Update

Well, I made it through my first week of school and let me tell you I was exhausted!! I'm so glad I started taking action this summer to improve my health and my families health so we could continue what we had already started. This is the time of year where I will definitely find out if I can sustain it all! I've already changed a few things around like exercising more in the morning. I tried out my first morning Barre class and it was a great way to start out the day! I loved doing Yoga while everyone was still sleeping at home, it was super peaceful! Finally, packing my lunch is the next thing I had to change up from last year. All fresh veggies and fruit and lemon water or left over dinner, delicious! Of course the added fruits and veggies from Juice Plus too! It's a feeling of relief to know we are all getting an additional 17 fruits and veggies every day! If you haven't had a chance, check out my website at Juice Plus.

Here are a few of my favorite recipes from last week:

Sweet Potato Quinoa Burgers

Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna

Toasted Quinoa Salad with Scallops and Snow Peas

Have a great week! Enjoy this beautiful weather!!

Thank You

A big thank you to my very good friend Karen for giving me a great workout idea! She shared how she downloads a Yoga workout from You Tube to do at home and even gets her kids involved! Brilliant and do-able! So this morning at 5:30 I got up (without my girlies this time) and completed my first You Tube Yoga workout. It was so relaxing and quiet and was a great way to start the day. Next time maybe I'll wait until my girls get up and have them try it with me, or maybe I'll just stick to some Mommy Time! :)

Have a great day!

Biggest Challenge Yet

Wow what a busy week!! I think my biggest challenge in my mission to lead a healthy and active lifestyle is coming up. I go back to school this week and we will fall into a routine of school for mommy, preschool for my girls, fall activities, etc... My challenge will be to not get so caught up in it, I start to get lazy. I know my story in the past has been, "I'm too tired, I'll do _____ tomorrow." (Fill in the blank with whatever activity never seems to get accomplished.) I have to keep reminding myself of why I wanted to become 1 Healthy Mama in the first place and that my two most important reasons will be watching and copying what I do!

Here's my action plan so far:
1. Stick to my workout plan of Turbo Kick and Barre and getting up early on the off days to work out downstairs before the rush of the day begins.
2. Pack lunches the night before. (Hope for leftovers from the yummy dinners I've been making, we don't usually have too many leftovers in this house!)
3. Get a shower and at least start to get ready before my girls get up. (They get up so early these days!)
4. Remember that STRESS is just another word for FEAR! When I'm starting to get stressed out I will stop and ask what am I afraid of and I will confront this fear head on. (In the past, it's usually been the fear of not getting it all done, my new belief is "I have all the time in the world!")
5. Continue to plan our meals and grocery shop according to what I'm making. I can chop the vegetables the night before and can cook the Quinoa the night before when the recipe calls for it to be cold.

I'll let you know how it goes! I feel motivated and confident! I GOT THIS!! :) Here's to being 1 Healthy and Stress-Free Mama!!

Enjoy the beautiful weather today!!

Last Week

I wanted to share some of the recipes I followed last week. After another successful week of avoiding processed fats and meat I'm feeling great! It's funny, but some days my biggest issue is not drinking enough water. When I don't get enough I can tell a noticeable difference in my energy level. It's my mission to drink enough water this week!!

Here are my favorite recipes from last week. The last one was one I already made, it's quick, easy, and yummy!!

Delicious Stuffed Peppers

Portobello Mushroom Pizzas

Avocado with Bell Peppers and Tomato

Edamame, Corn and Quinoa Salad

I would love to hear what your favorite healthy recipes are to make for your families, especially the ones your kiddos like to eat!

Visiting the Fair

We took our girlies to the fair today and had the best time! I was so thankful to read online that you can bring food, so we packed a picnic lunch- salads, fruit, and peanut butter and jelly for the girls. I'm trying out a new all natural jelly with less sugar. I was shocked to see how much sugar is in jelly!! I would love to know what other moms use. My youngest could eat PB&J every day!

We walked through all the animal exhibits, got the girls faces painted and rode a million rides. It was my first time on a ride in nearly 5 years. I was shaking on the Ferris Wheel, I've become such a wimp! It was so much fun riding with my big girl though!

By the end of the day we were all totally exhausted. After an ice cream treat (what's a trip to the fair without it) we headed home for a delicious dinner, kinda backwards I know! 😉 Avocado with Bell Pepper and Tomatoes

Now, to go collapse on the couch!!

Portobello Mushroom Pizza

I tried a new recipe tonight that I found on Pinterest for Portobello Mushroom Pizzas. Now, I love mushrooms, the hubby not so much! I thought I'd take a chance, after all it has cheese on the top! I wouldn't tell him what our surprise dinner was until it was served. His eyes about fell out of his head when he saw it. But... Guess what!?!? He ate one whole mushroom pizza!! Go me!!! He actually said, "I could eat this again!" Yay, success!!

Turbo Kick

Just finished up my second Turbo Kick class at Sheer Strength in Brecksville. The instructor said today that you can burn up to 1,000 calories in one class!! No joke!! It's an awesome workout, I would highly recommend it! It's definitely going to be a big part of me becoming "1 Healthy Mama!"
Have a beautiful and relaxing evening!

I'm in love with ...

My VITAMIX!! Those of you that know my family, know we are a Vitamix family! We love to make green smoothies, fruit smoothies, ice cream, and my personal favorite HUMMUS! It's delicious!! Today was a first though as I made my first Wheatgrass Smoothie!

I have had the wheatgrass for a week now, but was a little nervous to drink grass! It just felt weird, but today I decided was the day! I followed the recipe on the side of the jar and I have to say once you get over the initial shock of tasting grass, it was delicious!

I think I'll keep it in my morning routine! Now to get my girls to drink their green smoothies again! Kids are so tricky!!

Have a beautiful day!!

10 Day Challenge

I did it! I completed the 10 Day Challenge from UPW! It consists of vital breathing, eating a living foods diet and drinking living water, the power of eating an alkaline diet, aerobic exercise, nourishment, and a directed mind and heart. It also consists of avoiding dairy, meat, processed fats and acid addictions (alcohol and coffee). I'm working on avoiding the coffee part, but I'm down to one cup a day!

It has been incredible! I have so much energy and feel so good! I'm actually waking up before my babies and exercising or reading every morning! I ate no processed fat and ate only living foods. Here are some of my favorite recipes from last week:

Now that the 10 Days are over, I'm ready to continue to incorporate these concepts into my daily life! Stay tuned...

Massive Action

Massive Action! That's my plan is to take Massive Action to becoming "1 Healthy Mama!" My hubby and I went to UPW, a Tony Robbins Event in July that truly changed my life! You focus on discovering what your limiting beliefs are and work to change these beliefs into Empowering Beliefs! One of my limiting beliefs was, "I never have enough time, no matter what I do!" After an incredible experience at UPW, I now believe and focus on "I HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD!" I tell this to myself every morning and repeat it throughout the day when I start to feel overwhelmed and think I won't have enough time, or how am I going to get all this done. What are your limiting beliefs?

At UPW Tony talked about The 3 Pillars of Progress:
1. Get laser-focused, make it clear and compelling- What? Why? "Where focus goes, energy flows!"
2. Get the best tools/map/strategy/coaching for results- Find an expert in the area and get the best!
3. Get into action! Unlock and unleash alignment and integration=Power - Achieve! Success! Contribute! Celebrate! "Massive Action!"

Here are my Pillars:
1. What and Why- I MUST become "1 Healthy Mama" to feel better about myself, have more energy for my husband and children and to lead a healthy and happy life!
2. I am researching and reading as much information as I can find every day! I work out at the best place and have found the best fitness coach! By writing this blog, I am holding myself accountable!
3. Massive Action! This is where I am at today and what I'll be sharing with you! I know it won't be easy and there will be inner conflicts along the way, but I am committed to becoming "1 Healthy Mama!"

"Your life is either a warning or an example!" What will your's be??

Day One

Day One

Ok, so I'm new to blogging, but I'm ready to give it a shot! I hope you'll follow me on my journey to becoming "1 Healthy Mama!" Don't get me wrong, I'm not really super unhealthy. I try to eat pretty good and I serve a vegetable with our meals, which I force my kids to eat. I usually try to drink only one cup of coffee a day, from Starbucks, and I usually only have a beer with dinner, expect for the weekends of course. I mean I have two kids, I gotta have some fun, right!? But, I really didn't pay much attention to eating organic/healthy foods. Really the only organic food we have is organic milk for my girls. We eat lots of fruit and I make sure they get their whole grains. It's the vegetables that are tricky around here. I'm sure many mamas can relate to this, at least I hope I'm not alone with the nightly ritual of, "We'll sit here for as long as it takes..." I started exercising more this summer and love the energy it gives me and how good I feel after doing something just for me! It's my hour of peace and quiet, I love it!!

But, first let me back up and tell you about who I am...

I am 33 years old and am married to the love of my life. We've been married for 9 beautiful years. He is really on board with getting healthier and has started doing Cross Fit this year. He's been doing amazing and is my inspiration for getting healthier myself. We have two little girls, 4 and 3. They are my energetic, beautiful, crazy babies! I want to set the best example of being healthy and living life to the fullest for my girlies. I am the luckiest mama in the world to be their mom! I am also a teacher and have been for the last 10 years. I love teaching and working with my students! I think setting an example of being healthy and making healthy choices is a great way to be a positive role model for my students!

So, I was thinking I would post about the food I'm trying, the workouts I am attempting and how things are going at home with helping my girlies make healthy and active life choices. I hope you'll join me on my blogging adventure to become "1 Healthy Mama!"
